Sofia Cris Sewing

Irma Sofia Gomez

Many years ago, when I was just 13, I started working in a maquila. That’s where I discovered the world of sewing and learned to use industrial machines, working hard and with dedication from a very young age. That was the beginning of a journey that I never imagined would transform my life. At 17, I got married and, thanks to my husband’s support, I was able to continue my education. He began paying for pattern-making, cutting, and dressmaking courses, which allowed me not only to perfect my techniques but also to open up new opportunities for my future.

With this knowledge, I began sewing and altering clothes for neighbors and acquaintances, working from home and gaining experience. Over time, I managed to buy my own industrial machines, an achievement that required sacrifice, discipline, and perseverance. It was not easy, and it continues to be a challenge today, but each step has been a step toward my dreams. The trust of the Casa de Stela brand create by Jesica Bercovici marked a turning point, because thanks to it, I was able to expand my client list and open doors I never imagined.

With the support of my family, I have continued to grow and strengthen my work. Currently, Casa Flor, created by Averie Floyd, has given me its unconditional support to continue developing this dream that was born so many years ago. Thanks to all the people who believed in me, I continue to move forward with passion, commitment, and a firm desire to improve every day in the world of sewing.
